£100k saved for European hotel chain

A European hotel chain with over 18,000 rooms in over 65 hotels needed help with their utility procurement.

The Results

A hotel chain approached Inenco looking to improve their energy consumption across their 65 hotels. The priority was to secure a better price for their utilities and ensure that they weren’t overpaying on their invoices alongside clawing back any historical overcharges on their gas, electric and water procurement.

Through a structured approach, Inenco was able to help the client save £24,000 on their water procurement, £33,100 through query management and £40,50 reclaimed from historical invoices – a combined total of almost £100K since the beginning of their contract in 2016, with continued savings to be made in the future.

Our Approach

A new strategy

We recommended an Options approach for their electric to take advantage of the market and trade within a larger portfolio. We then secured a fixed procurement strategy for their gas to ensure budget certainty throughout the contract.

Additional savings

Secondly, we looked at their energy bills retrospectively to uncover any additional savings from overpayment.

Identified errors

With ongoing query management for the client we ensured any discrepancies were adjusted correctly.

ESOS compliance

Inenco supported the client with their ESOS Phase 1 compliance for the 2015 deadline and is now preparing them for their ESOS Phase 2 compliance.
